Uzbekistan, Belarus Sign Food Security Cooperation Agreement

Uzbekistan and Belarus have signed a new cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening food security, expanding agricultural trade, and deepening bilateral ties in the agri-food sector.

The deal was finalized following talks held between Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Norkulov and a Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.

Senior officials from both countries, including representatives from the agriculture ministries and the Belarusian Embassy in Uzbekistan, took part in the negotiations focused on boosting cooperation in agriculture and food production.

The two sides discussed expanding mutual food exports, strengthening trade and economic partnerships, and launching joint projects in the agricultural sector.

Food security emerged as a key topic during the meeting, alongside plans to exchange expertise in agricultural product processing and improve practical cooperation between ministries and agencies.

Following the talks, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance signed a trilateral cooperation agreement in the food sector.

The agreement is designed to advance long-term bilateral partnership, reinforce food security, increase trade turnover, and support joint agricultural initiatives between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
