Uzbekistan, Egypt Sign New 2026–2028 Cooperation Roadmap

Uzbekistan and Egypt have taken a major step toward strengthening bilateral relations by approving a new cooperation program for 2026-2028 and signing a series of agreements aimed at expanding political, economic, and diplomatic ties.

The agreements were reached during talks in Cairo between Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.

The two sides praised the steady growth of Uzbekistan-Egypt relations, highlighting the strong foundation of mutual respect, trust, and shared strategic interests that continues to drive cooperation between the countries.

A key focus of the discussions was boosting trade, investment, and business engagement. The ministers explored opportunities to expand economic partnerships, encourage direct contacts between business communities, and launch new joint investment projects capable of significantly increasing bilateral trade.

Political dialogue also featured prominently in the talks, with both sides expressing a commitment to maintaining active engagement at the highest levels of government.

The ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments, while Uzbekistan commended Egypt’s efforts to promote long-term peace and stability in the Middle East.

One of the meeting’s most significant outcomes was the approval of a Cooperation Program between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Egypt for 2026-2028. The roadmap is designed to coordinate political consultations, diplomatic exchanges, and joint initiatives over the coming years.

The parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations under Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry and Egypt’s Institute of Diplomatic Studies. The agreement will support joint research projects, academic exchanges, and professional training opportunities for young diplomats.
