Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Won Do-yeon discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in digital technologies. It was noted that Uzbekistan and South Korea have established practical cooperation in digitalization, and the prospects for its development are of great importance.
The Ambassador positively assessed the Public Services Forum held in Samarkand, emphasizing that Uzbekistan’s position in international rankings in e-government is constantly improving.
Special attention was paid to the Korea - Uzbekistan Digital Center project. The Ambassador highly appreciated the results achieved within the framework of this project and noted the need for its further expansion in the future. The Minister, in turn, emphasized that the Center’s activities significantly contribute to the development of e-government in Uzbekistan and hold high positions in international rankings. He noted that by 2030, Uzbekistan intends to enter the TOP 30 countries in digitalization, and for this purpose, it is essential to work closely with South Korea.
Issues of attracting leading Korean IT companies to Uzbekistan and the need for embassy support in this area were also discussed at the meeting
