Uzbekistan Explores Green Tech Partnership with Japan’s Ishigaki Company Ltd.

Officials from the Uzbek Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has met with representatives of Ishigaki Company Ltd., a Japanese firm specializing in industrial filtration and dewatering equipment, to discuss potential cooperation in waste management and the introduction of advanced Japanese recycling and disposal technologies.

Ishigaki Company highlighted its 67+ years of experience in filtration, water treatment, and waste dewatering, along with a track record of international environmental projects, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The Japanese side expressed interest in contributing to initiatives aimed at improving ecological sustainability and quality of life in Uzbekistan, and offered to conduct a research and assessment mission to explore the potential for joint production facilities.

Uzbek Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov emphasized that Uzbekistan is actively developing its waste management system and green technologies, including Waste-to-Energy plants, a green tariff mechanism, uranium mine reclamation projects with the EU, and programs for hazardous waste disposal and industrial wastewater treatment with international partners.

The ministry proposed exploring a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development and Ishigaki Company Ltd., covering:

Exchange of specialists

Environmental audits

Joint research programs

Adaptation of Japanese technologies to Uzbek conditions

Both sides agreed to conduct preliminary studies and expert assessments to pave the way for a pilot project, expressing confidence that the partnership will strengthen circular economy principles, expand the use of eco-friendly technologies, and advance Uzbekistan’s sustainable development agenda.
