A citizen of Uzbekistan who had been on the run since 2023 has been extradited from the United States following a joint international law enforcement operation.

The suspect, 37, was detained in New York by officers from Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry operational search department in coordination with U.S. law enforcement agencies and the Embassy of the United States in Tashkent, The Caspian Post reports via Uz.News.

The man was wanted under Article 276, Part 2 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which covers the illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other activities involving narcotics, their analogues, or psychotropic substances without intent to sell.

After the arrest, he was formally deported to Uzbekistan in accordance with established legal procedures.
