Uzbek Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov has met with senior representatives of Germany’s KfW IPEX-Bank to discuss expanding cooperation in the country’s transport sector, with both sides agreeing on concrete steps to advance priority projects in transport and logistics.
KfW IPEX-Bank’s delegation included Ekaterina Galitsyna, Business Development Director at KfW Ipex-Bank and Head of the Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Caucasus Department, and Silvia Sedlacek, Director of the Mobility Land-Based Transportation Division at the bank, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Talks centered on opportunities to jointly implement large-scale projects, with a particular focus on procuring specialized road equipment from leading European manufacturers and modernizing infrastructure at both international and regional airports across Uzbekistan.
The meeting also reviewed initiatives to create a modern transport network, including the development of a national transport strategy, the introduction of advanced freight solutions such as containerization, and the establishment of logistics centers nationwide.
