Uzbekistan’s national hydrometeorological service, Uzhydromet, has issued an avalanche warning for mountainous and foothill areas in six regions due to falling temperatures and forecast precipitation.
According to the agency, weather conditions could trigger avalanches between January 31 and February 1-3, creating risks in several mountainous districts across the country, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
In the Kashkadarya region, avalanche hazards are expected in Dehkonobod, Kitob, Kamashi, and Shahrisabz districts. In Surkhandarya, the warning covers Boysun, Kumkorgon, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts. In Samarkand region, potentially dangerous conditions are forecast in Nurobod, Koshrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts.
The alert also applies to Bakhmal and Zomin districts in Jizzakh region, Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts in Tashkent region, and Pop district in Namangan region.
Uzhydromet urged residents of mountainous and foothill areas, as well as tourists and drivers traveling on mountain routes, to remain cautious and follow necessary safety measures during the warning period.
