Uzbekistan Issues Avalanche Warning for Mountain Areas

Authorities in Uzbekistan have declared an increased avalanche risk in several mountainous areas due to expected precipitation and sharp air temperature fluctuations.

The warning was issued by Uzhydromet, which urged residents and travelers to take precautionary measures, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

According to the advisory, avalanche danger will remain in effect from December 31, 2025, through January 5, 2026, as snowfall and changing temperatures are forecast across high-altitude regions.

The affected areas include Dehkanabad, Kitab, Kamashi, and Shakhrisabz districts in the Kashkadarya region; Baysun, Kumkurgan, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts in Surkhandarya; Nurabad, Kushrabad, Samarkand, and Urgut districts in the Samarkand region; Bakhmal and Zamin districts in Jizzakh; Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Akhangaran districts of the Tashkent region, including the Chatkal mountain range; and the Pap district in Namangan.

Residents of mountainous areas, as well as tourists and drivers traveling through mountain routes, are advised to follow safety guidelines and remain alert to changing weather and road conditions.
