Uzbekistan, Japan Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation Talks

Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber, Nuriddin Ismoilov, has met with Japan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Kenji Hirata, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.

During the meeting, officials highlighted that high-level contacts in recent years have intensified, bringing bilateral cooperation to a new quality level, thanks to efforts by both countries’ leaders, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Hirata praised Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms and noted that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Japan on December 18-20 added fresh momentum to the countries’ multifaceted relationship. He emphasized Japan’s interest in seeing Uzbekistan as a stable strategic partner in the region.

The ambassador also underscored the success of the president’s visit, highlighting that proposals presented at the first “Central Asia + Japan” summit are crucial for the region’s sustainable development.

The discussion covered strengthening parliamentary cooperation, enhancing the role of friendship groups, exchanging legislative experience, and expanding interaction between parliamentary committees.

The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, both sides noted.
