Uzbekistan, Lithuania Seek to Boost Trade Ties

On the sidelines of the Third EU-Central Asia Economic Forum, Tadas Valys, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, met with Akram Aliev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.

The officials highlighted the growing potential for bilateral cooperation and emphasized the need for more flexible mechanisms to strengthen collaboration, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Key discussions focused on expanding trade and economic contacts and launching new initiatives to further enhance bilateral relations. Both sides agreed on practical cooperation guidelines and reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating joint project implementation.

Special attention was given to preparing for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2026, to be held in Lithuania. The sides exchanged views on priority issues to ensure that the upcoming session becomes an important milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation.

At the conclusion of the dialogue, the participants confirmed their readiness for closer coordination, expanding opportunities in trade, investment, and economic partnership, and agreed to explore additional initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties strategically.
