Uzbekistan, Malaysia Boost Cooperation in Medical Device Safety

Alisher Temirov, Director of the Uzbekistan Center for Pharmaceutical Products Safety, has held a working meeting with representatives of the Malaysian Medical Device Authority (MDA) to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in medical devices.

During the talks, both sides focused on regulatory frameworks, safe implementation of modern healthcare technologies, mutual recognition of regulatory decisions, and applying regulatory reliance principles, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed, marking a new phase in cooperation and promoting unified approaches to medical device regulation.

The agreement will support joint development of regulatory systems, human capital, scientific collaboration, and international-standard compliance. Temirov also proposed hosting the GHWP General Assembly in Tashkent in 2026, highlighting Uzbekistan’s commitment to global medical device safety initiatives.

Experts say these steps strengthen strategic ties, boost international trust, and enhance the safety of medical devices across national and regional markets.
