Uzbekistan and Norway have launched a new three-year partnership to strengthen the country’s radiation and nuclear safety framework through improved legislation, regulation, and international cooperation.
Funded under Norway’s Nuclear Action Plan, the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Uzbekistan’s Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety and its Scientific and Technical Center for Radiation and Nuclear Safety, The Caspian Post reports via UzA.
The project will focus on developing national regulatory documents, modernizing Uzbekistan’s state radiation and nuclear safety system, and introducing international best practices to enhance oversight and risk management.
During a visit to Tashkent, representatives of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) met with Uzbek officials to discuss the project’s objectives, priority areas, and practical steps for improving the country’s radiation and nuclear safety infrastructure.
