Uzbekistan Seals $300 Million Agricultural Machinery Deal with John Deere

The Government of Uzbekistan has entered into a $300 million agreement with the American corporation John Deere for the supply of advanced agricultural machinery.

The contract was concluded during a signing ceremony following a bilateral roundtable attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, $150 million - half of the total contract value - will be allocated for the purchase of cotton-harvesting equipment produced at the John Deere Des Moines Works factory in Ankeny, Iowa.

The agreement forms part of a series of U.S. investment and trade projects with Central Asian countries signed under the C5+1 framework, which brings together Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
