Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced that Uzbekistan’s electricity output reached a record 85 billion kWh, up from 60 billion in 2017.
To meet rising demand from a growing population of 38 million and expanding industry, the government has launched renewable energy projects worth $4.2 billion, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The new developments will add 3,500 MW of green energy capacity, supporting economic growth while reducing environmental impact. Officials expect the projects to save 7 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and prevent 11 million tons of harmful emissions, marking a major step toward sustainable energy in the country.
