Uzbekistan and South Korea are strengthening their partnership in the fields of geology and mineral resource development, aiming to leverage advanced technologies and expertise to enhance sustainable mining practices and boost economic growth.

Key stakeholders have recently held a productive working meeting to discuss progress on the second major component of the ongoing project “Creation of an Integrated Management System for Mineral Resources and Geological Risks in Uzbekistan” - the development of a comprehensive geological data database, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The session included Omonullo Nasritdinkhodjaev , Uzbek First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Geology, officials, and representatives from the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM).

The geological database is intended to form the backbone of efficient resource management and risk assessment across Uzbekistan’s mining sector.

Attendees agreed on selecting a pilot region for the system’s initial rollout. The first phase will involve data exchange specific to this region, followed by a phased expansion to cover the entire country.

Participants highlighted the critical role of international collaboration and the integration of advanced digital technologies in driving sustainable development within Uzbekistan’s geological industry.
