Uzbekistan, Switzerland Advance New Green Energy Projects

Uzbekistan and Switzerland are stepping up cooperation on decarbonization and green financing as officials discuss new initiatives in the energy sector.

Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz company Bahodirjon Sidikov met with representatives of the Swiss company VEMA S.A. to outline key areas of partnership, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbekneftegaz.

The talks focused on several major projects, including the rollout of an LDAR program to detect and reduce methane emissions, the development of feasibility studies, and the modernization of compressor stations. The sides also explored opportunities for practical cooperation on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) - a growing priority in global energy transition efforts.

Following the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their readiness to expand joint environmental initiatives and boost collaboration in green energy and emissions reduction.

Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) systems are widely used in the energy and industrial sectors to monitor and reduce gas leaks, helping cut emissions, improve safety, and meet international environmental standards.
