Uzbekistan Unveils First Large-Scale Solar and Battery Project

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has officially inaugurated the Nur Bukhara project, Uzbekistan’s first large-scale integrated solar energy and battery storage complex, developed by Masdar of the UAE.

At the ceremony, the president also launched Masdar’s 300 MW solar and 75 MWh battery project in Guzar, scheduled for completion in 2027, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The event was attended by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei.

During the ceremony, agreements were signed on investment, grid connection, and battery storage systems for the Zarafshan BESS project, the largest standalone battery storage facility in Uzbekistan.

Additionally, a roadmap was presented for a 1,000 MW wind project in Navoi region, marking the first phase of a 2,000 MW renewable energy program aimed at expanding clean energy across Uzbekistan.
