Uzbekistan, US Firm Sign Drone Agriculture Deal

Uzbekistan is stepping up efforts to modernize its agricultural sector, as Deputy Agriculture Minister Alisher Shukurov visits the US to expand cooperation on innovative farming technologies.

During the working visit, Shukurov held talks with organizations and government agencies, focusing on the broader adoption of advanced solutions in agriculture, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

A key meeting took place with Ziv Marom, CEO of Kaizen Aerospace, Inc., where the sides discussed the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in farming, the introduction of cutting-edge agrotechnologies, and the launch of joint projects.

Following negotiations, the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture and Kaizen Aerospace signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The agreement outlines plans to establish a joint venture, gradually expand pilot projects, create a Drone Academy, and explore the possibility of assembling and locally producing drones in Uzbekistan in the future.

Experts say the initiative could significantly boost efficiency in the agricultural sector by optimizing resource use, reducing costs, introducing water-saving technologies, and increasing crop yields.

Both sides agreed on a phased implementation strategy, including the development of a business model, financial mechanisms, and a roadmap for practical actions. The memorandum also envisages scientific research, educational and methodological programs, and broader integration of drone technologies into Uzbekistan’s farming industry.
