In Armenia, authorities are seeking clarifications from the Georgian side regarding the detention of Armenian trucks at the terminal (TIR park) in Kobi, Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan told reporters, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
Earlier, Armenian media reported that over 100 trucks from various Armenian exporters, mostly carrying construction materials, were stuck in Georgia. The drivers claim that their documentation is in order, but the Georgian side has not provided any explanation for the delay.
According to Papoyan, he addressed this issue during a meeting with his Georgian counterpart, Mariam Kvrivishvili, in Yerevan. Kvrivishvili responded that the matter does not fall under her department's jurisdiction and is being handled by the financial police, which reports to the Georgian Ministry of Finance.
Papoyan stated that the Armenian side has not yet received any clarification on what violations the businesses may have committed, which is why some Armenian trucks remain in Georgia. He refrained from commenting on whether there is any political underlying reason for this issue.
Armenian media note that about 40% of the total transit flow through Georgia consists of Armenian trucks.
