SpaceX will donate more than 100 Starlink satellite internet terminals to the Armenian government, according to Armenian High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
Speaking at a news conference, Hayrapetyan said that after the activation of Starlink services in Armenia, the country established strong and effective communication with the American company, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
He noted that this constructive dialogue resulted in the announcement of the donation during the February 9-10 visit of US Vice President JD Vance.
According to the minister, the donated terminals will be deployed to improve internet connectivity in several high-altitude regions of Armenia, as well as in educational institutions facing access challenges. He also emphasized that the US company has covered the cost of providing Starlink services in Armenia for one year as part of the initiative.
Starlink is a global satellite communications project developed by SpaceX, which was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk. The system delivers broadband internet access by operating a large constellation of small satellites, each weighing up to 500 kilograms, in low-Earth orbit.
On December 13, 2024, Starlink received authorization to use radio frequencies in Armenia. The satellite internet service officially became available in the country on March 27, 2025.
SpaceX’s Starlink network is also regarded as a leading candidate for integration into the United States’ proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense system.
