In 2024, Azerbaijan’s footwear industry recorded notable growth in production, with Aghdam district achieving a 20-fold increase.
Baku remains the leader in shoe production, manufacturing 458,000 pairs-an increase of 46 per cent from 2023 and 60.3 per cent from 2020, The Caspian Post informs via the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.
Guba district also saw significant growth, producing 433,700 pairs, up 75 per cent from the previous year and more than three times the output of 2020. Meanwhile, the Aghdam district produced 112,000 pairs, a sharp rise from near-zero production in 2023.
Some regions experienced declines. Absheron district output fell to 81,000 pairs, down 57 per cent from last year, while the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic produced just 200 pairs, a 99.5 per cent decrease from five years ago. Other regions collectively produced 1,500 pairs, up 25 per cent from 2023 but still 83 per cent lower than five years ago.
