Azerbaijan, Türkiye Develop Simplified Customs Corridor to Boost Trade Across Turkic World

Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov has said that Azerbaijan and Türkiye are working on the creation of a simplified customs corridor aimed at accelerating trade and improving connectivity across the Turkic region.

Baghirov said that customs cooperation among member states of the Organization of Turkic States continues deepening. While Azerbaijan and Türkiye are jointly developing the simplified customs corridor, Azerbaijan is also working with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan on the exchange of preliminary customs data, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

“We have conducted our own research and developed the necessary groundwork for implementing the simplified customs corridor,” Baghirov said.

He also highlighted the development of a “Single Window” system as one of the committee’s top priorities. The initiative is designed to streamline customs procedures and facilitate cross-border trade throughout the Turkic world.

Baghirov noted that other OTS member states have shown strong interest in the project. He said Azerbaijan aims to create a unique digital customs platform linking the Middle Corridor with Turkic states through the Single Window mechanism.

“Our goal is to build a system that could serve as a model for the rest of the world,” he said, adding that Azerbaijan has taken a leading role in advancing many of the initiatives driving the project forward.
