Azerbaijani Dance and Culture Take Center Stage in Japan

A cultural event titled “Azerbaijani National Dance” has been recently organized in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, by the Wakayama International Exchange Center, offering local residents and foreign guests an immersive experience of Azerbaijani culture.

The event was structured in three engaging parts, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

In the first segment, guest speaker Minare Shukurova introduced participants to Azerbaijani national costumes, music, and dance through a visually rich presentation, highlighting the country’s diverse cultural heritage.

The second part featured an online seminar led by dance expert Lale Aslanur from Baku, head of the “Dance with Me” project. She guided participants through the “Mountains of Shusha” and “Yalli” dances, explaining their history, symbolism, and performance techniques, while responding to audience questions.

In the final segment, Minare Shukurova presented Azerbaijan’s tea culture, allowing attendees to taste traditional Azerbaijani tea and take photographs in authentic national attire.

The event not only showcased multiple facets of Azerbaijani culture but also fostered intercultural understanding and connections among participants, leaving a lasting impression on the local community.
