ICRC to Continue Cooperation with Azerbaijan on Missing Persons

Daphne Mare, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia, said that the ICRC plans to maintain its cooperation with Azerbaijan regarding missing persons within the peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan.

Mare noted that the organization has worked with Azerbaijani authorities for a long time, providing information on individuals reported missing, The Caspian Post reports via Armenian media.

“The peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan explicitly calls for cooperation with international organizations to clarify the fate of missing persons. In this context, the Red Cross expects its efforts to be utilized,” Mare noted.

She added that the ICRC will close its Baku office on September 3, 2025.

“Nevertheless, our work with Azerbaijani authorities will continue, and communication will remain uninterrupted. Discussions are ongoing. Addressing the issue of missing persons is one of the most critical aspects, and naturally, the Red Cross hopes to contribute as a neutral party and mediator,” Mare emphasized.
