Romanian Senator Feels at Home in Karabakh Amid Cultural and Natural Splendor

Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, a Romanian Senator representing Maramureș province and member of the Romania-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, has said that he felt at home in Karabakh during his recent visit.

During his trip, the senator successfully ascended Heydar Aliyev Peak (3,751 m) in the Gizil Gaya massif of the Bashdag range, starting his climb from the Karabakh region, The Caspian Post informs via local media.

He described the peak as one of the most beautiful not only in Azerbaijan but in the entire South Caucasus.

“This mountain is stunning, and the air is perfect. We reached the summit in about 6-7 hours without any problems. The climb is not difficult but requires determination and effort. I came from the Karabakh region. Karabakh is a very important and special part of Azerbaijan,” he said.

The senator also drew a comparison between Karabakh and his home region of Maramureș in Romania: “There are forests, greenery, rivers, and I feel at home in Karabakh. The city of Shusha is incredibly beautiful - it is the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.”

Niculescu-Țâgârlaș expressed his gratitude to Gudsi Osmanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Romania, for organizing the visit.
