Russia's Overnight Strike on Ukraine Damages SOCAR Fuel Station

A fuel station of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in southern Ukraine was struck by Russian attack drones, causing an explosion and damaging the facility.

The attack took place on the evening of July 5, when Russian forces launched drones against a SOCAR fuel station in the Mykolaiv region, The Caspian Post reports via Azertac.

SOCAR Energy Ukraine said three Shahed attack drones hit the station in the village of Nechayane at 2A Odeska Street, damaging the station's administrative building.

The company said the consequences could have been far worse if not for strict safety procedures. All employees had moved to a shelter after an air raid alert was issued, and no injuries were reported.

The strike comes as Russia has intensified aerial attacks on fuel infrastructure across multiple regions of Ukraine in recent days.

This is not the first time SOCAR Energy Ukraine has suffered damage during the war. Last summer, two of the company's fuel stations were heavily damaged by explosions in the Zhytomyr region. Later, on August 8, a Russian Shahed drone attack hit a SOCAR oil depot in Ukraine's Odesa region, sparking a large fire and leaving four people seriously injured.
