Turkish Diplomat: Azerbaijan-Armenia-US Statement Marks Historic Step Forward

Metin Kılıç, a representative of Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry and board member of the Ankara Diplomatic Council has announced that the joint statement signed on August 8 by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the US has been hailed as a significant historical milestone.

Kılıç highlighted that the US plays a key role in countering the Armenian lobby, opposition forces, and other separatist elements, providing essential support for regional stability, The Caspian Post informs via local media.

The diplomat also underscored the strategic importance of the groundbreaking of the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway line on August 22, which is a critical step toward realizing the Zangezur Corridor.

“The Zangezur Corridor will connect China and Central Asian countries with Europe through Azerbaijan and Türkiye via rail and land routes, serving as a vital bridge between East and West. Its implementation will also promote peace in the South Caucasus. Armenia’s willingness to participate shows recognition that remaining outside the corridor is economically disadvantageous. Particularly significant is that the corridor will lift the blockade on Nakhchivan, an integral part of Azerbaijan,” Kılıç said.
