Uzbek Media Spotlight ECO Summit in Khankendi as Model of Regional Unity

The 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), recently held in Azerbaijan’s Khankendi, has received widespread attention from leading media outlets in Uzbekistan, underscoring the growing significance of regional cooperation.

In addition to the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UZA), major news platforms such as Gazeta.uz, Upl.uz, Uzdaily, Uznews, and Business Uzbekistan published extensive coverage of the summit’s key developments, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Many reports emphasized the close diplomatic rapport between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the dynamic expansion of bilateral ties, and the realization of joint initiatives with cross-border importance.

A central highlight of the summit was the launch of the Green Corridor Union on July 1-a joint company established by Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The initiative is designed to enable the export of renewable energy to European markets. All three nations are seen as having considerable capacity for green energy generation and have committed to scaling up their efforts through regional collaboration.

Commentaries also noted that the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan partnership stands as a model of cooperation for other ECO member states. Azerbaijan’s hosting of “ECO Week”, in conjunction with the summit, was praised for strengthening economic and political integration across the region.

With advantageous geographic locations and increasingly developed logistics and transit infrastructures, Central Asian countries are poised to play a transformative role in ECO’s future. Uzbekistan, in particular, is recognized for its proactive engagement in technology and innovation partnerships with fellow member states.
