Russia, Central Asia to Launch Unified Halal Standard

Russia is preparing to introduce a unified “halal” certification system with five partner countries, including Uzbekistan, in a move aimed at simplifying trade and boosting cross-border exports.

Aidar Gazizov, Director General of the International Center for Standardization and Certification “Halal” under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, said the joint regulation will also involve Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. The framework is expected to be developed in the coming months, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Gazizov explained that the initiative would allow exporters to obtain halal certification once in their home country and sell their products across participating states without undergoing additional certification procedures.

“For example, an exporter from Kazakhstan who receives halal certification domestically would be able to sell products in Russia or other member countries without further local approval. The same would apply to Russian producers,” he noted.

The proposed unified standard is expected to streamline trade procedures, reduce costs for businesses, and strengthen economic cooperation among the participating countries.
