Kazakhstan’s government plans to resume the agreement with Russia on trade and economic cooperation in the area of supplies of oil and petroleum products to the republic dated December 9, 2010, according to a draft decree by the republic’s cabinet released on a state portal for public discussion, The Caspian Post reports, citing Russian media.
The agreement stipulates "the possibility of import of Russian petroleum products on conditions of duty-free supplies," according to accompanying documents. The explanatory note says that the agreement itself expired on January 1, 2024, and it is planned to be extended until January 1, 2028. It is suggested that the protocol on resumption of the agreement will take force on the date of expiration, January 1 of this year.
