Kyrgyzstan is set to increase its agricultural exports to the European Union following a new agreement with the British certification company, Intertek.
The deal, which was discussed during a meeting in Berlin between Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy and Commerce, Daniyar Amangeldiev, and Jeremy Gaspar, Vice President for Government and Trade Services at Intertek, aims to enhance the competitiveness of Kyrgyz products in EU markets, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The agreement will allow Kyrgyz companies to certify their products according to international standards, significantly improving their export potential. The Ministry of Economy is optimistic that the collaboration will modernize the country’s quality assurance systems and expand its export capacity.
In addition to agriculture, the ministry is exploring certification opportunities for other sectors, particularly Kyrgyzstan’s garment industry, which holds strong potential for international growth.
As part of the initiative, Intertek specialists will visit Kyrgyzstan to assess the country's laboratories and certification infrastructure. Intertek, a global leader in product certification and quality control, will work with local authorities to align Kyrgyzstan's systems with international standards.
The ministry highlighted that the visit by Intertek experts would be a crucial step in modernizing local laboratories and integrating Kyrgyzstan’s certification framework with global quality assurance practices.
