The aid shipment is being transported by vehicles from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations. The cargo includes nearly 30 tons of essential food supplies and medical items, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Emil Hasanov, Director of the Reserves Control Department at the Azerbaijani State Reserves Agency, said the shipment contains 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water, nearly 600 kilograms of tea, and about 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

The aid trucks have already set off and are expected to reach their destination in the near future.

Officials noted that the humanitarian assistance was organized after a March 8, 2026 phone call between President Ilham Aliyev and Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, with the aim of assisting to meet the current needs of the friendly and neighboring Iranian people.

The humanitarian convoy is being escorted to the border city of Astara by senior officials from the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, including Niyazi Rahimov and Gurban Sadiqov.
