Israeli ministers and their aides have been urged to disable phone location services following what officials describe as an escalating cyber threat from Iran.

A message sent to ministers instructed them to ensure that no apps or services - including GPS features in photos, Facebook, and Google Maps - are allowed to track or share their location, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

An Israeli official familiar with the matter said the warning highlighted concerns that Iranian intelligence services are actively cooperating in efforts to pinpoint the whereabouts of senior Israeli leaders.

Arrests and Espionage Allegations

Over the past year, Israel has arrested several of its own citizens on suspicion of spying for Iran. Just last month, an Israeli man was detained for gathering intelligence on former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, according to the Israel Security Agency, Shin Bet.

In February, Shin Bet and Israel’s National Cyber Directorate said they had thwarted “hundreds” of attempts by Iranian intelligence operatives to hack into the phones of Israeli officials. Authorities reported a “significant increase” in efforts to breach private Google accounts and communication apps - particularly after the June war between Israel and Iran.

Health Sector on High Alert

The cyber threat warning has extended beyond political leaders. Israel’s Ministry of Health announced that all medical institutions have been instructed to raise their cyber defense readiness level. Hospitals and healthcare organizations are now required to move to the second-highest level of cyber alert, reflecting concerns that critical infrastructure could also be targeted.

As digital warfare intensifies alongside regional tensions, Israeli authorities appear to be tightening security on all fronts - from government offices to hospitals - amid fears that cyberattacks could become a key battleground in the conflict with Iran.
