Iran has postponed the complete reopening of its airspace until 2 p.m. local time (10:30 GMT) on Saturday, the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development announced.
Spokesman Majid Akhavan said that the delay aims to ensure passenger and flight safety as the country gradually restores domestic and international flights, particularly reopening its eastern airspace, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.
While the eastern airspace reopened earlier this week, the northern, southern, and western regions will remain closed until Saturday afternoon.
Iran initially shut its airspace on June 13 following Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and other areas. After 12 days of aerial conflict, a ceasefire was reached on Tuesday.
