Shadmani served as the Chief of War Staff and the head of the Iranian Armed Forces’ emergency command. He commanded both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the entire Iranian military, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
At the start of the operation, Shadmani was appointed to lead the armed forces after his predecessor, Alam Ali Rashid, was eliminated in the opening strike of Operation Rising Lion.
The emergency command center Khatam al-Anbiya, which he headed, is responsible for managing combat operations and approving Iran’s firepower plans. In his various roles, Shadmani directly influenced Iran’s attack strategies against the State of Israel.
Before his predecessor's elimination, Shadmani served as deputy commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya emergency command and as head of the Operations Directorate of the Iranian General Staff.
His elimination adds to a series of assassinations of senior Iranian commanders and represents another blow to the command chain of Iran’s armed forces.
