A memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US has been signed by the leaders of the two countries, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, marking a significant step in ongoing diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington.

The announcement was made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, who confirmed that the document was signed remotely rather than during an in-person ceremony, The Caspian Post reports via Donya-e-eqtesad.com.

Baghaei said that the negotiating teams from both countries will continue their participation in talks in Geneva, despite the agreement being finalized through remote channels.

“The participation program of the negotiating teams in Geneva remains in effect; however, the memorandum was signed remotely. No signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland,” he said.

Earlier reports indicated that the memorandum of understanding was expected to be signed on Friday (June 19) at the Burgenstock resort in central Switzerland. However, officials later confirmed that the agreement had been completed remotely, eliminating the need for a formal signing event.
