Akylbek Kylychev has been officially appointed Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Iran and Permanent Representative to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tehran.
The appointment was formalized by a decree signed by the head of state, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
Born in Bishkek on December 25, 1966, Kylychev is a seasoned diplomat, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor. He graduated from the History Department of Kyrgyz State University in 1989 and earned his PhD in 1995 with a dissertation on the history of Tengri-Too and neighboring regions in the 14th-15th centuries based on Persian sources.
Kylychev has been working for the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry since 1996 and studied at the Diplomatic Academy in Cairo in 1998. He previously served at the Kyrgyz Embassy in Iran in various roles, including First Secretary, Counselor, and Acting Ambassador, from 1998-2014 and 2021-2023. In 2023, he became Rector of the Kazi Dikambaev Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He succeeds Turdakun Sydykov, who held the ambassadorial post in Iran since 2021.
