Director General of Iran’s Khorasan Railway Administration Mustafa Nasiri Warag has announced that construction of the Sarakhs Railway Terminal in Khorasan Razavi province reached 60 per cent completion.
Located at the intersection of the vital international "North-South" and "East-West" transport corridors, the terminal is set to enhance Iran’s logistics capabilities significantly, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.
Nasiri Warag highlighted Iran’s commitment to expanding container freight traffic along these routes, which facilitate the movement of goods from China and Central Asian countries to southern Iranian ports and onward to the Turkish border.
The terminal is expected to serve as a major hub for rail shipments originating in China, distributing cargo efficiently across various destinations through Sarakhs.
Nasiri Warag also emphasized that the development of these transport corridors will positively influence Iran’s import-export activities, bolstering the country’s trade prospects.
Strategically located on the border with Turkmenistan, the Sarakhs railway and road crossing remains one of Iran’s key points for international trade and freight transit with Central Asia.
