Armenia and Kazakhstan have approved a reciprocal agreement to exchange land plots for the construction of new embassy buildings in Yerevan and Astana, marking a new step in strengthening diplomatic ties.
Armenia's parliament has ratified the agreement, which provides each country with a 0.33-hectare plot for its future diplomatic mission, The Caspian Post reports via YeniSafak.
Kazakhstan's new embassy in Yerevan will be built on Isakov Avenue, one of the city's main routes to the center, where several major diplomatic missions, including those of the United States and China, are already located.
In return, Kazakhstan will allocate an equally sized plot in a prestigious district of Astana for Armenia's new embassy. The site is situated near Independence Avenue, close to the embassies of the United States, China, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the city's iconic Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.
Under the agreement, both countries will lease the land to each other for a symbolic annual fee-1 dram in Yerevan and 1 tenge in Astana - reflecting the reciprocal nature of the partnership.
