Astana Financial Centre Boosts Economy with $6B Investments

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) attracted $6 billion in investments to Kazakhstan’s economy in 2025, marking a $2.9 billion increase from 2024.

Of this total, $4 billion came from portfolio investments, while $2 billion were contributed by AIFC participants. Since its launch in 2018, the AIFC has helped channel $20 billion into the country’s economy, The Caspian Post reports via AIFC.

In 2025, more than 1,400 new companies joined the AIFC, up 300 from the previous year. The year also saw the first meeting of the Turkic Council on Green Finance, where member countries discussed sustainable and green financing initiatives. A joint communiqué confirmed their commitment to sustainable development, climate adaptation, and environmental protection.

The AIFC released nine sectoral reports during the year, including studies on deepening economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Through the Green Finance Centre, the AIFC has facilitated around 70 per cent of all green bonds and loans issued in Kazakhstan. Since the launch of the sustainable finance market, $2.5 billion has been mobilized through green bonds and loans by the end of 2025. Regional initiatives, including seven sustainable finance instruments in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, were also implemented with external verification by the Green Finance Centre.
