Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan Join Forces to Unite Turkic World Through Film

Kazakhstan’s State Support Center for National Cinematography has signed memorandums of cooperation with film industry institutions from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan in a significant step toward deepening cultural integration among Turkic-speaking nations.

The agreements were concluded on the sidelines of the Korkyt Ata Turkic World Film Festival, currently underway in Aktau, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

The signing ceremony reflects a shared commitment to bolstering collaboration in cinema and is aligned with the broader objectives of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). The initiative seeks to foster unity through the promotion of shared cultural values, history, and storytelling traditions via film.

Under the memorandum with the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, both sides agreed to cooperate in a variety of fields including the joint production of feature films, documentaries, and animated films. Additional areas of collaboration include organizing industry-specific workshops, seminars, and master classes, as well as enhancing translation and dubbing efforts to make regional films more accessible to broader audiences.

A central focus of these partnerships will be the promotion of intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of people-to-people ties through cinematic works that reflect the collective memory and values of Turkic nations.

The agreements are seen as a major boost to cultural diplomacy and aim to position cinema as a powerful medium for building mutual understanding and preserving the rich heritage of the Turkic world.

The Korkyt Ata Turkic World Film Festival, a major celebration of regional cinema and artistic cooperation, officially opened earlier this week in Aktau and continues to draw filmmakers, artists, and cultural leaders from across the Turkic-speaking world.
