Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are planning to sign an intergovernmental agreement to enhance cooperation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM).
Officials say the draft agreement has already been finalized, and its signing aims to strengthen the institutional status of the TMTM, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.
The ministry highlighted Azerbaijan’s key role as a vital link, facilitating the transit of goods across the Caspian Sea toward Türkiye and European markets.
As part of efforts to develop the trade fleet, Baku Shipyard has received orders for two container ships scheduled for completion in 2027, along with plans to deliver six additional multipurpose dry cargo vessels in the same year.
The ministry added that participating countries will continue joint work to increase the route’s capacity and make it more attractive to international shippers, aiming to position the TMTM as a major corridor for regional and global trade.
