Estonian President Alar Karis will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan from November 17 to 19, accompanied by a 40-member business delegation, to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, education, and digital innovation.
The trip will focus on expanding economic ties, advancing collaboration in artificial intelligence and sustainable development, and exploring new educational and scientific partnerships, including university exchanges and joint research programs, The Caspian Post informs via Estonian media.
“The visit underscores Estonia’s commitment to fostering constructive relations with Kazakhstan - a key European Union partner in Central Asia - and to supporting a global order based on rules and international law,” the statement said.
President Karis will be accompanied by members of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament), government officials, and representatives from Estonia’s Council of University Rectors. A series of cultural events, including concerts and exhibitions celebrating Estonian culture, will also take place during the visit.
The state visit will be held at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with First Lady Sirje Karis joining the delegation.
This will be the first high-level state visit between Estonia and Kazakhstan in over a decade - the last one occurred in 2011, when Kazakhstan’s then-President Nursultan Nazarbayev traveled to Estonia.
The visit follows Finnish President Alexander Stubb’s recent official trip to Kazakhstan, where he and President Tokayev discussed bilateral relations, geopolitical challenges in Europe and Central Asia, and cooperation in promoting a multipolar world order.
