Kazakh Fencers Cut Through to Semifinals at 2025 World Championships

Kazakhstan’s men’s épée team has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 World Fencing Championships, currently underway in Tbilisi, Georgia, following a series of impressive victories.

The Kazakh team secured a dramatic 45-43 win over Italy in the quarterfinals, showcasing exceptional skill and composure under pressure, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Earlier in the tournament, Kazakhstan defeated China in the Round of 16 and overcame Russia in the Round of 32, cementing their position as serious contenders for a medal.

Kazakhstan is now set to face Japan in the semifinals, with the chance to reach the final and vie for gold on the world stage.

In related sporting news, Kazakh tennis star Elena Rybakina continues her winning run at the 2025 Canadian Open (National Bank Open presented by Rogers), defeating American Hailey Baptiste in the second round to book her place in the tournament’s third round in Montreal.
