Kazakh, Japanese Media Outlets Sign Cooperation Agreement

As part of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Japan, the TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh president and Japan’s leading news agency Jiji Press have signed a cooperation agreement.

The agreement, signed by Raushan Kazhibayeva, Director of the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex, and Katsuhiko Sakai, President and CEO of Jiji Press, aims to deepen collaboration in the information sphere, including news exchange, joint coverage of major events, and expanding access to timely and reliable information for audiences in both countries, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Kazhibayeva highlighted that close media cooperation strengthens cultural and humanitarian ties and brings the peoples of Kazakhstan and Japan closer together. Jiji Press confirmed its interest in mutually beneficial collaboration and expressed readiness to visit Kazakhstan soon.

In 2026, the two media organizations plan to implement joint projects promoting tourism, investment, and business opportunities, as well as exchanging professional experience.

The Kazakh president’s TV and Radio Complex is one of the country’s largest media companies, encompassing Jibek Joly TV, Silk Way channels, Qazinform International News Agency, and the Documentary Film Center. Jiji Press, operating since 1945, maintains over 20 overseas bureaus and is a key source of news for both Japanese and international audiences, partnering with global agencies like AFP, Reuters, and Xinhua.

This media cooperation follows Kazakh President Tokayev’s recent talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which included a joint statement strengthening the Kazakhstan-Japan ties.
