Kazakh Presidential Aide and Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldibay has said that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed strong support for the recently reached ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages, which were achieved through indirect negotiations mediated in Egypt.
In his statement, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts in de-escalating the conflict and restoring peace in the region, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He commended the active and constructive mediation roles played by Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye in facilitating the agreement.
The president also acknowledged the key role of the US in the negotiation process, highlighting the contribution of President Donald Trump and his administration in moving the parties toward a resolution.
“President Tokayev recognizes the collective efforts of international partners in advancing the negotiation process and supports initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East,” Zheldibay said.
The ceasefire agreement marks what has been described as the "first phase" of a broader deal between Israel and Hamas. Earlier reports indicated that US President Donald Trump publicly announced the breakthrough, noting progress in the release of hostages and the reduction of hostilities in Gaza.
The Kazakh leader reiterated Kazakhstan’s longstanding position in favor of peaceful conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
