Kazakhstan, Armenia Deepen Ties with New Consular Agreement

Kazakhstan and Armenia have taken another step toward closer cooperation, signing a final protocol following high-level consular consultations held on April 9.

The talks were conducted within the framework of the 2026-2027 cooperation program between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Armenia, signaling continued momentum in bilateral relations, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The Kazakh delegation was led by Azamat Aubekov, Director of the Consular Service Department, while the Armenian side was headed by Artur Petrosyan, Chief of the Consular Department. Representatives from relevant state agencies also joined the discussions.

During the consultations, both sides reviewed key consular issues, including travel and residency procedures for citizens, as well as cooperation on migration matters. The dialogue builds on earlier agreements reached in April 2024, highlighting a consistent effort to simplify cross-border movement and improve coordination.

The signing of the final protocol formalizes the agreements achieved during the meeting and outlines priority areas for future interagency cooperation. Officials emphasized that the outcomes are aimed at benefiting both citizens and business communities in the two countries.

The consultations come alongside broader diplomatic engagement. During an official visit to Armenia, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, underscoring the political will to strengthen bilateral ties.
