Kazakhstan marks Shanyraq Day, the fourth day of the Nauryznama decade, celebrating family values, respect for elders, and generational continuity.
The day is symbolized by the shanyraq-the upper dome of the yurt-representing home, unity, and lineage. Across the country, cultural venues host events that preserve spiritual and moral values tied to family and tradition, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
In Astana, major celebrations include a national-style wedding for 50 couples at the Baiterek monument, a flash mob and Altyn Asyq game with 3,000 schoolchildren, and an evening concert “Song of the Happy Shanyraq” featuring 18 family couples.
Other regions also host vibrant events: Shymkent offers AI educational activities and the family competition “Robo-Shanyraq”; Akmola holds wedding ceremonies and a “Nauryz-Party” festival; Kostanay presents the VII International Festival of Choreographic Art “Nauryz Invites Friends”; Karaganda organizes family contests like “Golden Shanyraq” and “Silver Kerege”; Mangystau honors exemplary families and hosts AI masterclasses and drone football; and Aktobe runs the “Nauryz - Gift” campaign alongside the “Rosa Invites” concert.
Shanyraq Day within the Nauryznama decade brings together tradition and modern celebration, uniting families around the values of unity, respect, and generational continuity.
