Kazakhstan has improved its standing in the global public safety ranking.
According to the World Justice Project, Kazakhstan placed 42nd out of 143 countries under the Order and Security factor in the Rule of Law Index 2025. The result marks a step up from 43rd place in 2024, reflecting steady gains in public order and safety.
The Order and Security factor assesses the level of public safety, protection from crime, and overall social order. In the 2025 ranking, Kazakhstan outperformed France, Italy, Portugal, Georgia, Türkiye, Greece, and Russia.
Domestic crime statistics support the upward trend. The Kazakh Interior Ministry reports that over the past two years, the total number of registered crimes has fallen by nearly 19,000 cases, while crime in public places has declined by around 10 percent.
Kazakhstan’s progress builds on earlier recognition: in 2020, the country was named the safest state in the CIS, underscoring longer-term improvements in public security.
