Kazakhstan, International Telecommunication Union Pledge Stronger Partnership in Telecom and Digital Tech

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to discuss strengthening cooperation in digital and telecommunications technologies.

During the meeting, President Tokayev congratulated Bogdan-Martin on the ITU’s 160th anniversary and highlighted the organization’s critical role in advancing global collaboration on digital development, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The president also emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to building a modern digital ecosystem and infrastructure, noting the country’s active participation in low Earth orbit satellite initiatives such as OneWeb, Starlink, Amazon Kuiper, and Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology.

Bogdan-Martin commended Kazakhstan’s progress in digital industry growth and artificial intelligence adoption, expressing the ITU’s readiness to deepen its partnership with Kazakhstan and expand joint projects.

Earlier, President Tokayev held separate talks with OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais, focusing on the current global oil market situation and cooperation between Kazakhstan and OPEC.
